Our Library
Welcome to the WEDHS Library where we hope to make accessible a range of research resources relating to the health care and social wellbeing of people from people from Black and minority ethnic (BME) backgrounds living in Wales.
The WEDHS Search-For-Research directory provides a centralised list of studies that have been conducted in Wales that have a focus of BME population groups - making the dissemination of research and the building up of an evidence base in key subject fields a reality.
The WEDHS Find-A-Contact Directory helps you to locate equalities agents, researchers, academics, community workers, health and social care professionals with complimentary skills and expertise interested in partnership working.
The WEDHS Find-A-Service Directory is a unique directory containing the contact details of health and social care services that have been tailor-made for people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds. This particular service differs from the excellent NHS Wales Directory (HOWIS) in one key way - that all of the services are dedicated (in part or in whole) to meet the specific needs of different BME groups.
Please note when searching the Library that many of the search terms we use for BME groups in Wales reflect the subject areas covered by other Specialist Libraries in order to facilitate cross-library working. We have also used the census classification of ethnic minority groups in the UK. However, we have also sought to move from general categories to specific groups, and to reference both language and religion as well as geographical origin if possible.
